Training certificates
with Zapier

Clients needed a legal training certificate they can pass forward, the kind they used to issue on paper. The Bites platform does not support any type of certificate, so we went the outside route: I took an API key from our app, connected it to Zapier, and the finished PDF emails out the moment training is done.

Bites Zapier Webhook + PDF Emailed to the client

After an employee finishes a course, clients need a legal certificate they can pass forward, the same document they used to issue physically. It is mandatory for them: they have to show it to the authorities and for insurance reasons.

A completed training becomes a certificate in the client's inbox. It is a workaround, an outside feature, instead of adding a new feature to the Bites platform. The flow is: I took an API key from our app and connected it to Zapier, then built the rest around it:

  • API key on our app: so Zapier can talk to Bites when a training is done.
  • Webhook catch: the completion event lands in Zapier instead of dying in the product.
  • PDF with placeholders: employee name, training name, and the other details the client asked for get mapped into the certificate template.
  • Email to the client: the finished PDF goes out automatically. They get a real certificate, not a screenshot from the LMS.

Clients get the document they asked for the moment training is done. They also have the guarantee their employee actually finished the training.
